  • Voter’s card
  • International passport
  • Certificate of origin

How adults can enroll

Walk into any NIMC enrollment centre with your Bank Verification Number (BVN) accompanied by any other document as mentioned below

  • Voter’s card
  • International passport
  • Certificate of origin
  • Old plastic national ID card
  • Driver’s license
  • Tax clearance certificate if you have any, NHIS ID card
  • School ID card for private or public school, valid immigration document, etc.

Having arrived the enrolment centre the following steps will be taken to get you enrolled

Step 1. Walk into the NIMC enrolment centre with your supporting documents

Step 2. You will be verified which aim is to ascertain if you have been enrolled in the past using the national identification number verification portal

Step 3. You will be issued an enrolment form to fill thereafter

Step 4. Your forms will be vetted by NIMC official to crosscheck the information provided on the form against that contained on your supporting documents.

If you cannot read or write it is advisable that such applicant be accompanied by a literate

Step 5. Having crosschecked, your information will be inputted on the NIMC portal

Step 6. On completion of the enrolment a transaction ID slip will be issued to you, you will be advised to come back for the national identification number within 1-5 working days. Thereafter a NIN slip will be issued.

How to enroll minors ( 0-15 years)

If you are a minor age 0-15 years and a legal resident, you can have access to the national ID card too.

You are required to provide the below requirements, not optional but mandatory

  • Parent or guardian NIN slip
  • Supporting document and evidence of prove of the guardian to the minor
  • Registered birth certificate/age declaration of the minor
  • Minors must be accompanied by either a parent or guardian
