Labour suspends strike as FG bows to N30,000 minimum wage demand
Labour suspends strike, the organized labour union has suspended its looming strike set to commence on Tuesday 6th November 2018, as FG okays N30,000 minimum wage demand, Financengr can confirm.
A tripartite committee finally reached a consensus on Monday night with labour leaders few hours before the commencement of the nationwide strike.
The committee has adopted the recommended N30,000 as the new national minimum wage in a report to be submitted to President Mohammadu Buhari by 4:00pm on Tuesday November 6th. However left to be implemented.
It’s however a great relief that the strike could not hold as that would have spelt doom to the Nigerian already struggling economy gasping for breath.
As at Monday night, Aviation workers announced their commitments to down tools in support of the organized labour strike.
National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) as well were ready to grind transportation in support of the strike.
Labour suspends strike, It would have been a tough experience for the country, which in many ways is undergoing unsavory economic pains.
