How your loan interest is being calculated

Assuming you applied and received a loan of N50k from Polaris bank, recall interest rate is 2.5% flat and 1% management fee.

I = PXTXR/100

Where I = Interest expected

P = Principal amount borrowed

T = Time it took to return the loan

R = Rate at which the facility was given

From our deduction here P = N50K, (T = 30 days/365 days= 0.08219), R = 2.5+1=3.5

It therefore stands that;

I = 50000/1 X 30/365 X 3.5/100 = N143.84

It therefore stands that the bank will charge you N143.84 on a Polaris salary advance loan of N50k for 30 days, isn’t that interesting?

Can the loan be repaid installmentally or in full

Hi Arumona,

The plane truth is that they disburse this loan according to your monthly salary.

If you try to apply you’ll be informed about your threshold and that’s what you’ll be debited in full on repayment.

I appreciate your write up on this topic. However, the charges are far higher than you have explained here. Seems the way they calculate theirs is different. I took an advance of #33’000 for 15 days & what they charged me was far higher than the #50k example you gave here. They even charged me penalty!!!

Serious 😒!
What type of account do you have with them?

Not a salary account I guess?

Polaris bank was so interesting. But in a situation where I live or reside in area where there’s no network on the line I usually receive alert, is there any alternative way that one can apply and get payday or OD loan online?

Thank you
