Enugu state: Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi approves N2.5bn for construction and renovation of classrooms. Enugu state government has approved the sum of N2,572,686,367 aimed at constructing classrooms, renovation of delapitated structures in primary and junior secondary schools of the state, to be undertaken under the state Universal Basic Education Board (ENSUBEB).
briefing newsmen in Enugu, the commissioner for education in Enugu state Prof. Uche Eze said the approval was aimed at improving the quality of education and standard of learning by creating enabling environment for pupils and students in the state.
Other projects benefiting from the funding include: classrooms, plastic chairs and desks, white boards and sporting equipment.
According to the commissioner, in keeping with the four points agenda of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s administration, approval was also given for N271 million as bailout for Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) to offset seven months monetization arrears owed its’ workers.
N14.6m as well was approved for speedy relocation of Enugu State College of Education Technical from its Enugu temporary base to permanent site at Ihe, Awgwu local government area of the state.
